How to view the screen and basic operations

This guide explains the screen layout of ERPNext and the basic operations of each area. It covers everything from the left-hand menu (11 categories), the top bar, the work area, and how to use the list and detail screens.

ERPNext screen configuration

The ERPNext administration screen is divided into the following four areas:

Screen layout overview

Central Work AreaDisplays the currently selected workspace, list, and detail screens
Breadcrumb TrailDisplays your current level. You can return to the previous screen.

Top bar

This is a bar that is always displayed at the top of the screen.

  • Search Bar: Enter screen name, invoice number, etc. to perform a cross-search (shortcut:Ctrl + G )
  • "?" button: Opens the manual article corresponding to the currently open screen in a new tab.
  • Notification Bell: Check notifications and mentions addressed to you.
  • User Icon: Personal Settings, Theme Switching, Logout

Tip: The "?" button will automatically open the manual corresponding to each screen. For unregistered screens, it will jump to the manual's TOP page.


Left-hand menu (11-category hierarchy)

This is an 11-tier menu listing business categories from top to bottom. Clicking a category will open the corresponding workspace.

Note: The categories displayed are filtered based on administrator settings and assigned roles. If not all categories are displayed, you may be missing some roles.

Open/Close Menu

You can open and close sub-items using the arrows to the left of each category. Closing categories you don't use will improve the layout.


Workspace (Work Area)

The screen that opens when you click a category is your workspace. Shortcuts, lists, graphs, report cards, and more are all consolidated on one screen.

Workspace Customization

  1. Click "Edit" in the upper right corner of the screen.
  2. Add/rearrange shortcut card graphs
  3. Click "Save"

Note: The administrator may have set up a company-wide template. To prevent your personal changes from being lost, please select "Save as personal settings" when you first edit.


Basic Operations

List screen

This screen displays all the invoices together.

Example of list screen

  • Create New: Click the "+ Add" button in the upper right corner.
  • Refine: Specify conditions in the filter panel on the left.
  • Sort: Click the column header.
  • Batch Action: Select multiple items using the checkboxes → Execute the action at the top.

Details screen

This is the screen for editing a single invoice.

Example of a detail screen

  • keep:Ctrl + S Or the "Save" button
  • Submission (confirmed):Ctrl + Enter Or the "Submit" button
  • Cancellation: "Cancel" button (cancels a submitted slip)
  • Comments: You can use the comments section at the bottom of the screen for communication within the team.

Breadcrumb trail at the top of the screen (Example:ホーム › 購買 › 発注書 › PO-00123 You can return to the previous level from there. This step is omitted on smartphones.

Use on smartphones

When you access it from your smartphone, it will automatically/mobile-home The screen will switch, and a smartphone-specific screen will be displayed.

  • On-site screens, such as those for entering performance data (on a tablet), also work on smartphones.
  • The workbench screen for PCs is best viewed using a PC browser.
  • Manually/app/... You can also access the PC version (some functions are limited).

FAQ

Q: Some categories are not displayed in the left-hand menu.

You do not have the necessary role to access the screens included in that category. Please request that your administrator grant you the role.

Q: Clicking the "?" button opens a different manual article.

Detailed URL of the screen (Example:/app/purchase-order/PO-00123 ) rather than the parent screen (/app/purchase-order The corresponding article will open. For detailed instructions on how to use that screen, please refer to the relevant section in the parent article.

Q: The browser's back button isn't working.

Alt + ←Use the button or return to the previous level using the breadcrumb trail. ERPNext has a unique screen transition mechanism and may not perfectly match your browser history.

Q: I want to change the order of my workspaces.

The workspace order is determined by the administrator. Individual rearrangement is not possible. A practical approach is to add shortcuts to frequently used screens in your home workspace.
